Meet Jae
Hi, I’m Jae Taylor—interior designer, creative problem solver, and founder of Jae Taylor Designs. My design journey started long before I launched my business in 2008. I grew up immersed in the world of high-end furniture, fine art, and interiors, where my appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity began to take shape at an early age.
My Background
I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t intrigued by color, texture and shapes. They stimulate my imagination and awaken my senses. Looking through my own personal lens, I guess you could say that I see the whole world as “art”.
My mom was an interior designer with her own studio, and I loved tagging along on her buying trips to the Chicago Merchandise Mart or to art shows in New York. These weren’t just shopping trips—they were treasure hunts for hand-knotted rugs, up-and-coming artists, and one-of-a-kind finds.
My dad worked as a furniture manufacturing representative for brands like Tomlinson, Henredon, and Bernhardt. I was “voluntold” to help him swap out fabric samples in showrooms as a kid, but I didn’t mind—I usually got lunch out of the deal! By high school, I was selling in his showroom at the Furniture Market in High Point, NC, and during college summers, I traveled with him selling accessories to retail stores and design shops across multiple states.
Design isn’t just what I do—it’s in my blood.
My Approach Today
While my foundation is built on tradition, my approach is anything but cookie-cutter. Every client, every home, and every vision is unique—and that’s exactly how I like it. I specialize in helping people define and express their personal style, often using a mix of old and new. Sometimes that means painting a piece of furniture you’ve had forever, other times it means reimagining a room from the ground up.
People often ask me what my favorite design style is. The answer is simple: it’s yours. My job is to listen, ask the right questions, and recreate the vision that lives in your mind’s eye. The result? A space that feels personal, purposeful, and perfectly you.
