Michelle
Michelle turned her empty-nester project into a vibrant, eclectic masterpiece
… And transformed her home into a space that truly reflects her unique style.
When Michelle bought her 1878 Craftsman home in Stillwater, she knew she was in for a challenge. The original crown moldings had been removed, and the home had suffered years of neglect. As a single parent whose only child had just left for college, she needed something to focus on as she adjusted to her new empty-nester status. This renovation project became the perfect outlet.
After tackling the necessary electrical and HVAC upgrades, she set her sights on transforming the interior. Although her furnishings didn’t align with traditional Craftsman style, she had an impressive collection of artwork, traditional and art deco furniture, and a love for vibrant colors. The solution? An eclectic design that brought her vision to life, as seen in the “after” photos.
Considering budget constraints, Michelle’s renovation was approached in stages over two years. Many of my clients choose to break their projects into manageable phases, whether due to personal preferences or financial reasons. I have often worked with clients for several years, ensuring we create a space that meets their needs and evolves with them. Don’t let the idea of a multi-phase upgrade hold you back—I’ll “meet you where you are” to develop a plan that suits your pace.
This project is a throwback from 2008 and remains one of my favorite design journeys.
